View Clean Across Bass Strait in a larger map
Bass Strait is a stretch of the world’s most hostile seas, where with little warning screaming winds and giant waves hurl themselves against those who scoff at the warning signs. Its 200 year history has been brim full with adventure, treachery, violence and horror and mystery, which to some degree has influnced the lives of those inhabiting its shores.
The map here shows the course route if the prevailing wind late in February 2011 is a southerly, in which case we would catch the ferry to Tasmania and paddle in the reverse direction, starting from the North East coast of Tasmania and finishing at Wilsons Promontory in Victoria.

So fantastic of you to do this for Surfrider Foundation. Also great timing as we really need it.
We will be cheering you on your journey each day and may the winds be always at your back.
Dig deep in your pockets as they dig deep with the paddle.
Surfrider Foundation Chairman
